Sweetwater is better if you don't know what you want or want the biggest selection of any store ever and CME is better if you have a better idea of what you want and are into vintage pieces. They also have used gear as I got my Gretsch used there but it's not their focus. I literally got asked while I was checking out. Granted all salesmen will ask you if you need help constantly, but they're very happy to help. That being said, everything that's online is in the warehouse. There are these big tablets where you can request guitars from the storage room and the salesmen will go get it for you while you noodle on what you have. Sweetwater is more for anything and everything that's come out in the past year or so. But it makes the outside area quiet, which is nice. There are 5 sound proofish booths with amps for playing guitars but if they're all full you have to wait. Chicago Music Exchange LLC is a business licensed with Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP). They even have a vault for guitars over 75k. CME is the place for vintage gear and more unique pieces. ![]()
